The Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 of Lourdes English Medium School, Kanajar, was held with great enthusiasm, energy, and vibrant sportsmanship under the inspiring theme “Spoorthi”. The programme began with an uplifting introduction that highlighted the essence of sports—courage, dedication, determination, and the spirit to rise after every fall. Students, teachers, parents, and guests gathered in large numbers to celebrate the day filled with energy and competitive spirit.

The dignitaries were warmly escorted by the school band as the programme commenced.
The Chief Guest was invited for the troop introduction, after which the four house teams—Green, Yellow, Blue, and Red—marched with discipline and pride. The March Past showcased perfect synchronisation and unity, symbolizing the determination and teamwork of Lourdites. The Chief Guest received the Guard of Honour, and the field echoed with rhythmic drum beats and coordinated steps.
The school sports flag was hoisted by the Joint Secretary, Rev. Fr. Harold Pereira, accompanied by the dignitaries. The School Anthem followed, honouring the values of unity, discipline, and school pride.
The school choir invoked divine blessings through a melodious prayer song. A warm formal welcome was then extended to all the guests and participants by Mrs. Sulochana.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the Lighting of the Olympic Torch, symbolising courage, purity, and the spirit of sportsmanship. The torch was carried by outstanding athletes:

The flame was finally placed by the Physical Education Instructor, Mr. Rakshith Poojary, followed by the lighting ceremony conducted by Mr. Stany Saldanha and Mrs. Amreen.
Under the guidance of the Physical Education Instructor, students took the Sports Oath, promising to uphold integrity, respect, and true sportsmanship throughout the competitions.
Students from Grades 5, 6, 7, and 9 presented a vibrant display dance, showcasing their talent, energy, and teamwork. The performance added colour and excitement to the inaugural ceremony.
The Chief Guest, Fr. Rohan Dias, delivered an inspiring and motivating speech, encouraging students to face challenges with courage and to grow through sports and discipline.
The Joint Secretary, Rev. Fr. Harold Pereira, addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the school community while motivating the students to strive for excellence.
A formal vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Flavy Dsouza, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, teachers, parents, and students for their cooperation and support in making the event successful.
The most awaited moment arrived when Rev. Fr. Harold Pereira officially declared the Lourdes Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 open by unveiling the impressive Sports Day Model, symbolising creativity, teamwork, and the spirit of sports. The inaugural ceremony concluded gracefully, and the dignitaries were requested to proceed to the refreshment room. Students enjoyed their break before assembling for the competitive events scheduled for the day.
